Wireless Notebooks: What You Need To Know About Going Wireless!
Executive Summary about Wireless Notebooks: What You Need To Know About Going Wireless!
By Titus Hoskins

- notebook pc reviews
It’s not exactly breaking news that our world is becoming increasingly wireless. Wireless computers, notebooks or laptops may just be the second wave in our struggle to becoming a totally wireless world. The ultraportable, versatile little notebook computer, will no doubt play a major leading role in our wireless struggle to be constantly connected.
The market for laptop and notebook computers is growing at a rate of 20% each year according to Taiwanese notebook makers. Wireless notebooks uses three major wireless data standards in order to transfer data.
Wi-Fi or 802.11b transfers data wirelessly at a maximum rate of 11Mbps for up to 150 feet.
The next technology in Wireless Communication is 3G EV-DO! With download speeds of 400 to 700 kbps and bursts up to 2 Mbps, 3G has really given us wireless Internet this time.
Of course, it should be kept in mind, that any group of computers can be made wireless by using a wireless router and a wireless network adaptor for each computer. Also, many notebooks and computers come with a Bluetooth module, which allows for wireless communication between any sort of electronic devices from cell phones to computer to
stereos to headphones.
However, if you’re setting up a wireless network or if you’re using your wireless notebook or laptop at hotels and airports security will be a concern. Anyone within distance, possessing the right equipment and a little ingenuity may get access to this wireless system. There are usually two basic methods of securing wireless networks, WEP and MAC address filtering.
Then you manually enter a list of addresses that can use or access your wireless network.
The other filtering process is more secure, WEP or Wireless Encryption
Protocol requires a shared key between the users and then using this key to
encrypt and de-encrypt data that’s transmitted between your network users.
It’s a wireless world after all.

Choosing An Ultra-Portable Laptop For Your Computer Needs
Executive Summary about Choosing An Ultra-Portable Laptop for Your Computer Needs By Elizabeth Lord

ultraportable laptops
When choosing a laptop, portability is often a key feature. When you are traveling with your laptop frequently, taking your laptop on planes and long drives makes weight (or lack of weight) extremely important. Things to consider when buying an ultra-portable laptop:
• Price
• Features
• Weight of Additional Gear
• Battery life
You also have to watch out for mobile laptops that require extra gear. Battery life varies with the efficiency of the processor, so check out battery life in any reviews you read.
Best Reviewed Laptops
• Sony VAIO VGN-TX770P
• Toshiba Portege R200
• Averatec 1000
• Dell Latitude X1
The VAIO has a great battery life, which is important, but is also one of the most expensive ultra-portable laptops available.
It is the heaviest of the laptops listed here, weighing three and a half pounds, and has the largest hard drive at 80GB.
• CPU (Central Processing Unit)
• Hard Drive
• RAM (Random Active Memory)
• Screen Size
• Port Types
• Optical Drive (CD, CD-RW, & DVD-RW)
• Removable Media (like a camera memory card)
• Batteries
• Video Card
• Touch Sensitive Mouse Pad
• Wireless Capability
The CPU, or central processing unit, is not upgradeable in most laptops. The most important factors of CPU’s in laptops are the balance between processor power and battery consumption, and heat output (the less heat, the better).
The hard drive is upgradable in a unique way: if by some strange twist of fate you manage to fill up the 60 plus GB that these featured laptops come with, you can purchase portable flash hard drives to store your extra material temporarily. A smaller screen is harder to read, however if it is too big it affects portability. If you have an older mouse that you intend to use with your laptop, remember to buy a USB adapter. If you do not want to use a CD drive in any of its variations, then you can find a smaller laptop for your use. If you need to backup a large amount of data, look for a laptop with a DVD-RW drive. Some laptops also come standard with a place to insert your media card directly into the computer for fast photo access. The batteries that come with laptops now are much alike. If your laptop uses a lot of power, look into buying a spare battery so that you can switch them out when the power drops too low.
Most laptops come with a touch sensitive mouse pad.

Top 5 Thin and Light Notebooks
Executive Summary about Top 5 Thin and Light Notebooks By Gary Hendricks

laptops review
If you’re a wireless network fan, you’ll also realize that most notebooks have wireless network support by default. Many laptops also have a much wider screen to allow enjoyment of multimedia and games.
Here’s a personal scoop of the top 5 thin and light notebooks out in the market right now.
Toshiba Satellite M45-S3511
It also comes with a widescreen display, a speedy 8x DVD+/-RW burner and a huge 100 GB hard drive. A very nice notebook that is highly recommended.
Gateway M460XL
The Gateway M460XL is powered by an Intel Pentium M 750 (1.8 GHz) processor and 512 MB of RAM. The battery is very long-lasting and there’s also a modular bay for adding an extra hard drive, a floppy drive, a CD-RW or DVD drive. You also get a 8x DVD+/-RW burner and a 80 GB hard drive.
Sony VAIO T240P/L
The Sony VAIO T240P/L notebook comes with an Intel Pentium M 1.2 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and an Intel 855GME graphics core. Its long battery life will help keep you working for hours. There’s a big 60 GB hard drive, but only a CD-ROM / DVD-ROM combo drive and a small 10.6 inch screen. Despite these shortcomings, however, you get a top quality brand name notebook that looks slim and sexy to boot.
Asus V6V
The Asus V6V laptop features a fast Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon X600 graphics processor. This makes it great for high performance graphics and games, especially with the included 4x DVD+/-R burner and a 60 GB hard drive.
HP Compaq nc4010
The HP Compaq nc4010 notebook comes with an Intel Pentium M 725 (1.6 GHz) processor, 512 MB of RAM and an ATI RADEON IGP 350M graphics processor. The downsides of this laptop are the small 12.1 inch viewable screen size, the lack of an optical drive a small 40 GB hard disk.
Conclusion
Whew! Good luck!
